Happy Friday! Here’s a quick update for you this week:
August 20, 2021 Update:
Soybeans (119 days)
The beans are progressing very quickly. Check out how many pods are on each of these plants!
Tons of 4-bean pods out there. And some 3-bean pods, which are okay…I guess. 😉
All of these pods will continue filling (getting wider as the beans grow) over the next couple of weeks. Then the plants should begin to die off shortly and the soybeans inside each pod will begin the drying down process. All a natural part of the soybean plant lifecycle. We’re thinking harvest is probably a month to six weeks away.
Look at that great, big mass of bean plants! The plants have all really branched out, especially over the last week or so, so the field is becoming more difficult to walk through. It’s almost like wading through water, with bean plants and branches waiting just below the surface to trip you.
Corn (115 days)
Maybe not the most beautiful ear I could’ve picked, but a ton of progress since last week! Check out the denting on the kernels.
At this point, the corn plants all all done growing. We’re waiting on kernels to finish developing (including drying down). Corn will likely be ready to harvest before the soybeans.
Not a whole lot to share, so short and sweet this week. Have a great weekend!
